Geese

We choose a breed looking for both production and temperament. Therefore we chose to raise Pilgrim Geese. We are very pleased with this breed.

Left Gander, Right Goose

Pilgrim Geese

Pilgrim geese are medium weight, sex-linked, and sweet tempered. Pilgrims are excellent foragers and docile enough that you can reach under a setting goose with out being flogged. Pilgrims are excellent parents. One problem is the geese become broody early in the season thus limiting the number of eggs.

Pilgrim Geese are sex linked meaning they are one of the only geese that can be sexed by color. The males are all white with blue eyes, whereas the females are gray with some white on the head and brown eyes.

L-male, R-female

Day-old male goslings are yellow or silvery with light bills and the females are greenish gray with dark beaks. This distinction becomes more apparent as the babies get older.

Our original stock came from Calicowoods and Metzer Hatchery.
