Soay Sheep

We obtined our starter flock of Soay in January of 2010 from Bill Lilly right after he lost his beloved wife Linda in December 2009.

The Lilly flock was 54 animals strong when it was dispersed.

It was started from a pair of Soay obtained from Bruce Poor in Nantucket in 1997. The Lilly flock had been pedigreed for several years but was wildflocked for the past several years due to space limits at the Lilly Farm. The Soays were not registered due to the belief that there was no registry. All the soays were horned in this flock but there were several different colors including dark and light phase with and without spots. The Lilly flock only produced singles for the 14 years that it was shepherded by Bill and Linda Lilly.

Our flock began where they left off. We purchased 3 rams and 4 ewes from Bill Lilly. They are descendents of their first pair Ewelysses and Ewephoria.
